Introduce yourselves

We are Laura and Dylan and tied the knot on 06.06.2026. We live in London and have been here for 10 years now, but we actually met back at high school in Mid-Wales, so you could say we tick the “childhood sweethearts” box!

Planning a Marquee Wedding

What inspired the style and theme of your wedding?

The style of choice was elegant, timeless, countryside garden inspired. With a colour palette of peaches, terracottas, blush and yellows to bring a warmth and spring / summer feel. I think the setting of the Abbey created the elegance and the marquee at home ticked the box for countryside feel.

What was the most important thing you wanted your guests to experience on the day?

I wanted everyone to feel a warmth of being at my family home, I wanted people to notice the little details from stationery to tablescape and how it all fed in with the flowers and colour schemes of the day. And of course, to have the best time on the dance floor.

What made you decide on a marquee wedding?

I wanted a unique and very personalised wedding. I knew a marquee wedding would allow me to start with a blank canvas. The farm I grew up on, in the beautiful hills of mid-wales, has been in the family for 4 generations, it holds so many special childhood memories for me, so it felt right to have a marquee wedding here.

Which part of the planning process did you enjoy the most?

I enjoyed the food tasting with Comyn Bruce where we decided our final wedding menu!

What made our marquee the right choice for your celebration?

As soon as I spoke to Paul and Jenny I knew I was in safe hands. They offered the beautiful Aurora sailcloth tent which looked so elegant to me but at the same time makes a statement. The team came to do a site visit as as soon as we spoke through plans I knew they were the team for me.

How did you personalise the marquee to reflect your style?

By linking the colours throughout every detail from candles to the big floral display (floral hoops and archways). The elegance came from the gold decor weaved throughout. The round bar in the centre created the distinctive separation between dinner and dance floor and was a communal area for people to congregate around – giving that warmth. We had pictures of us in one corner by the stage, the welcome table, and cake table which was a beautiful display.

Do you have any advice for couples considering a marquee wedding?

If you want a blank canvas where you can choose and design everything from scratch, definitely do a marquee – but be prepared to put in more hours of research and work than you would for a standard venue.

Favourite Moments

What was your favourite moment of the day?

Ceremony, speeches, food, the music, first dance & dad daughter dance – the whole day if I’m honest! It’s so hard to pick a specific moment

Dad and daughter dance

Did anything unexpected happen that you’ll always remember?

A guest got a shout out during speeches for his drinking skills on Dylan’s Stag Do – so he stood up and downed his pint for all to see!

Which detail received the most compliments from your guests?

…. Everything really!!

Looking Back

If you could relive one moment from the day, what would it be?

So hard to choose one moment – it was all so magical

What’s your biggest piece of advice for couples planning their wedding?

Prioritise what is important to you as a couple and budget accordingly. Shop around supplier wise and speak to different people. Also remember it’s your day so block out any unwanted opinions! It’s your wedding – You make the decisions!
